Why the Wii is perfect for Rock Band
It’s official, Rock Band is coming to the Wii on June 22. The popular, yet pricey, music game which has been selling extremely well on the other systems, will be coming to Nintendo’s popular console this summer as a $169.99 bundle which includes the game itself, a wireless guitar, drums and a microphone.
Guitar Hero III, a similar music game, was released last year on the Wii and, despite an embarssing sound debacle, has sold very well on the system.
As of now, Rock Band does not appear as though it will have an online component. Nevertheless, it is sure to be a hit on the Wii. The Wii is largely about watching and interacting with other people and thus, the lack of an online component is not a substantial setback for the game, seeing as how the best experience is to be had playing together with your friends in the same room. The Wii has established itself as an excellent console for bringing people together, a concept which is integral to Rock Band’s appeal. Rock Band provides an excellent four-player experience which is sure to entice the hordes of Wii gamers out there looking for a great music game to play with their friends. Guitar Hero III was merely the opening act for music games on the Wii; the encore is still to come this June in the form of Rock Band.
